Baked Egg Custard with Gruyere and ChivesThis dish has a really smooth creaminess that I like a lot. Serve it as a special weekend treat with fruit on the side.

Makes 8 servings
Ingredients
  • 2 cups coarsely grated Gruyere (6oz)
  • 1/2 cup chopped chives
  • 10 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Instructions
  1. Move the oven rack to the middle of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a 2 quart baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Evenly sprinkle the Gruyere and chives over the bottom of the dish.
  4. Put the eggs, milk, cream cheese, nutmeg, salt and pepper in a blender and blend until smooth.
  5. Pour the mixture over the cheese and chives and baked for 35 to 45 minutes, or until set and golden.
